Personal Decisions

For the rest of your lives you will be faced with decision making.  Right now I would like you to look back on your decision making in your lives so far by following the directions below.  In order to receive full points you MUST have at least 10 COMPLETE sentences.

1. Students will select a specific factor which influences the decision making process (Values, Priority, Environment, Peers Role Models, Family, Self-Image) and prepare a personal essay explaining how the factor previously influenced a personal decision.

2. Students may choose any decision from their past but should explain the decision in detail.

3. Be sure to not put anyone's full name.

Positive Relationships

Every person is involved in a number of different relationships.  Some relationships are stronger than others, but all relationships need attention, trust, and communication to be effective.  Your assignment is to evaluate your level of communication effectiveness for two different relationships.  Students will write at least two paragraphs explaining their perceived level of listening skills as well as their current level of communication within each relationship.  Students should provide at least two examples from each relationship as the basis for their written analysis.

Service Organizations

There will always be service organizations available throughout your lives.  They may differ from country to country, state to state, and even community to community, but it is important to be informed of these organizations so that you may be able to contribute if you choose to do so.

After learning about 5 Service Organizations (The Salvation Army, The American Red Cross, The Lions Club International, Kiwanis, and Habitat for Humanity) what are your thoughts on these organizations.  Had you heard of them before?

Which organization would you most be willing to be involved with in the future?  WHY?

IS SERVICE IS THE RENT WE PAY FOR LIVING?

What would you do?

So you have learned about various ways to be active in your communities.  Regardless of whether or not you end up coming back to live in your hometown or whether you move to a large city, there will always be ways for you to give back to your community.  The former FACS teacher had a saying that went "Service is the rent we pay for living."  What does that statement mean to you?  Do you agree or disagree with it?  Why or why not?
